Members of "CUHK Bridge to China Team" empowered themselves for future service delivery

CUHK Bridge to China Team is a university volunteering team formed under the I‧CARE Centre for Whole-person Development with the support and guidance from Wu Zhi Qiao (Bridge to China) Charitable Foundation. Since 2009, the team has participated in and organised numerous bridge building projects, village investigation trips and public health programmes with the help of CUHK students. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has at recent years precluded the team from partnering its cooperating institutions to carry out services in the Mainland, members of it do not give up chances to enhance themselves through planning a variety of learning activities and participating in local construction projects.

To increase CUHK students’ understanding towards the CUHK Bridge to China Team, core members of the last session (i.e. 2020-21) set up a promotion booth at the CUHK Art Fair from 21 to 23 September 2022. In addition, they conducted the “Cultural Tour at Cape D’Aguila” on 9 October where they enjoyed the natural scenery and explored the culture of Hong Kong’s marine reserve together with the participants.

As for the CUHK Bridge to China Team of the current academic year, a total of 14 students were recruited as core members at the selection interview conducted in October 2022. The new core members joined the first meeting held on 10 November to build team rapport; they also took part in various ice-breaking activities led by the core members of the last session to enhance mutual understanding and exchanged ideas for service design and implementation.
